Thurmond playoff opponents announced

JOHNSTON - Following an unblemished Region 3-AA run that saw both the Strom Thurmond varsity boys' and girls' go undefeated in conference play at 10-0, each team now knows its first round playoff foe.

The STHS Lady Rebels will play host to Keenan on Tuesday, February 17, at 7 p.m. while the Rebels will host Eau Claire on Wednesday, February 18, at 7 p.m.

The teams wrapped up the regular season on Thursday night by sweeping Gilbert.

The Rebels (14-6, 10-0) dropped the Indians by a 62-38 final, while the Lady Rebels (20-4, 10-0) beat Gilbert 64-43. Senior Tra'ves Bush led the Rebels with 10 points.

Lady Rebel senior Courtney Mealing led all scorers in the girls' game with 41 points.

Both games will be played at Strom Thurmond High School's gymnasium.

Should the STHS basketball teams win in the first round, the Lady Rebels would play at home on Friday night at 7 p.m. and the boys on Saturday at 7 p.m. at home.

Those games would also be played in the STHS gym.

Admission for playoff games is $5. All entrants must puchrase a tickiet, as only SCHSL passes will be accepted.
