JOHNSTON – The Wardlaw Academy Patriots have added yet another championship to the school’s already impressive football trophy case in the form of the 2009 NPSAA 8-Man Football Division Three National Championship.
The Patriots capped a second-straight unbeaten season (11-0) with another SCISA 8-Man football crown after dropping Patrick Henry Academy in an offensive shootout. Wardlaw finished fourth in the NPSAA Division Two rankings after last season’s 12-0 title run.
The Division Three designation is for schools of less than 125 in High School students.
The NPSAA is the National Private School Athletic Association, and officials will be at the school within the next several weeks to present the team with its national championship trophy.
Two other SCISA schools – Dillon Christian and Hammond School – also made the top 15 in their division polls for 2009.
For more information, visit the organization’s official website at NPSAA.org, where the NPSAA will be posting individual awards this upcoming week. Several SCISA players from all classes are expected to be selected for the private school association’s All-America Teams.
