MERRIWETHER – The Fox Creek High School varsity football team started their first major football practice of 2010 last week at Merriwether Middle School.

Coach Schneider was asked if he had any new players this year and he said, “Half of the kids practicing today haven’t been on this field except for today.”

The Predators’ head coach was then asked how he would rank the team of thirty-four players without the eighth-graders moving up, and whether he believe that their record will be better this year than it has in the previous years.

He smiled and said, “The group from last year is a solid group returning this year and they are learning more and more. They  know that we are expecting a lot out of them to help us teach the newcomers the ropes.”

Coach Schneider also stated that the team will look to be a total of two to three players deep at quarterback, both lines, at fullback and running back.
