RS-M Enjoys Fun Week Of Homecoming Festivities
RIDGE SPRING – RS-M Homecoming 2010 was definitely a time to remember!
It started on Mon., Sept. 27, with Tacky Day. The tackiest students were seniors Ashley Wood and Ashtin Ritchie. The classes then competed in the dizzy bat competition with the seniors and sophomores tying for first place.
On Tues., students dressed as twins, but most of the teachers wore purple in honor of the fight against domestic violence. The classes competed in the ever-popular Tug-of-War. Of course, the sophomores won due to the sheer strength and power of their 10 mighty players. Winning the dress competition were seniors Ashli Davis and Taylor Gomillion.
On Wed., students dressed as their favorite rock stars. We had KISS, Bon Jovi, and Britney Spears, just to name a few . Even the teachers participated with Ms. Douda as a punk rock drummer, Coach Rodgers as Bruce Springsteen, and Mrs. J. Rodgers as Madonna (NOT Cyndi Lauper!). The homecoming court was presented in the gym as well as the candidates for Homecoming King, Mr. Football, Mr. or Miss Band, and Miss Volleyball.
On Thurs., students wore all black for black-out day. Then they competed in the obstacle course with the seniors taking home the victory. The sophomores won the balloon toss. The best dressed students were seniors Ashley Wood and Ashtin Ritchie. (The teachers really enjoyed the water balloon toss!)
On Friday, the students showed their blue and gold colors by dressing for spirit day and wearing their class T-shirts. Winners were Ashley Wood and Ashtin Ritchie from the senior class.
Also on Friday, the classes competed with banners depicting Trojan spirit and with original chants created by the students from each class. The banner winner was sophomore class, while the award for best chant went to the senior class.
On Friday night, the Trojans took on the North Eagles and beat them 26-20.
At halftime, the homecoming court was presented along with their escorts. The new 2010 Maid of Honor and Miss Homecoming Freshman was Aeisha Jeffery. Homecoming Queen for 2010 was Ericka Cyrus. Homecoming King was Denzeil Ligons. Mr. Football was Malcolm Harris., Miss Volleyball was Taylor Gomillion. Miss Band was Katrice Henderson. Homecoming Miss Sophomore was Annisha Bettis, and Homecoming Miss Junior was Casey Kenner.
Many thanks to Ms. Kerry Jackson and the student council for making Spirit Week 2010 yet another one of our greatest memories of high school!
