Piedmont Tech And Lander Sign Plus One Agreement
Piedmont Technical College and Lander University recently signed a Plus ONE agreement that will make select courses available to qualifying students at both institutions for the cost of a transcript fee.
The agreement will enable full-time Piedmont Technical College students enrolled in the Associate in Arts or Early Care and Education programs to enroll in one qualifying course at Lander University per semester. The agreement includes select 200 and 300 level coursework in Education, Psychology, and other disciplines related to the teacher education bachelor’s degree at Lander University.
With this new agreement in place, students wishing to transfer to Lander after their studies at PTC will be able to complete some of the upper-level coursework required for a bachelor’s degree at a dramatically reduced cost while still at PTC.
“Thanks to the partnerships we’ve established with Lander over the last several years, students in our region who are interested in a career in education now have more flexibility as they’re deciding what works best for them when they’re planning for college,” said Susan Timmons, vice president of academic affairs at PTC.
Students pursuing a teacher education degree at Lander University can take a variety of 100 and 200 level courses at Piedmont Tech.
“Anytime we can engage in meaningful, cooperative endeavors such as the Plus ONE agreement, it helps our citizens — and in turn helps our institutions and our state,” said Lander President Dr. Daniel Ball.
“Piedmont Technical College is committed to making higher education accessible to everyone in our service region. This agreement represents another way we’re working to create pathways to success for our students,” said Dr. Ray Brooks, president of PTC.
Piedmont Technical College has significantly expanded the number of transfer partnerships with colleges and universities throughout the state over the last two academic years. The college has signed new agreements with eight institutions in the last year, and is actively working toward adding more. Agreements have been reached with the University of South Carolina, Clemson University, Lander University, the College of Charleston, Anderson University, Columbia College, Newberry College and more.
