Volunteer Guardians ad Litem “spend their hearts”—not just during the Christmas season but throughout the year.
They realize that time spent with children in foster care is a gift that lasts forever. Their efforts on behalf of these children cannot be measured in dollars and cents.
Just this year Eight new Volunteers have been trained to take cases in Edgefield County. I want to thank them for their service to the children of our community, without them the best interest of our children could not be relayed to the court.
With completion of the free training, adults over 21 years of age will develop knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for children involved with the Department of Social Services and the Family Court system. In a few short hours each month, you can impact a child’s life and help them find a safe, loving, permanent home. Sharing your first hand knowledge of a child with Family Court Judges can be the key to shaping a child’s future.
Give the gift that keeps on giving. Stand up and be heard on behalf of a child who has been abused and neglected. Speak for them. Let them know that they too are a gift, and deserve to have an opportunity for a better life.
If you have a desire to help children and be their “voice”, please contact Desiree′ B. Council at the McCormick & Edgefield County Guardian ad Litem office. Become a Volunteer Guardian ad Litem and spend from your heart on a child in this coming year. It will be the best investment you’ve ever made.
We hope to have our next training in January, 2011. I need to have at least three applicants from Edgefield County to hold training in Edgefield. Have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
