Ruby Matheny Holmes

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Matheny Holmes, 83, of Johnston, were held Friday, May 15, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Saluda Baptist Church. Burial was in Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Holmes, a native of Johnston, died Tuesday, May 12, at Edgefield County Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Charlie and Lila Mae Holland Matheny. She was a member of Saluda Baptist Church and the Ladies IV Sunday School Class, a former Sunday School teacher and a volunteer at Saluda Nursing Home for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Harvey Smith Holmes Sr.; a daughter, Elizabeth H. Sauls, Lexington; Patricia H. Wannamaker (D.T.), Saluda; sons, H. Smith Holmes Jr. (Lila), Johnston, Jerry M. Holmes, Saluda; daughter-in –law, Mary H., Johnston; sisters, Perrine M. Matthews, Rockmart, Ga., Helen M. Holmes, Johnston; a brother, Jack Matheny (Willie Mae) , Johnston; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles E. Holmes.
