John D. Perry

Graveside services for Mr. John D. Perry, 90, of Martintown Road in Clarks Hill, who died Saturday, June 6, 2009, were conducted Tuesday, June 9, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Mr. Thomas Goforth officiated. Military honors were accorded by the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post #71.
Mr. Perry was a native of Smithville, N.C., having made this area his home for the past 64 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as Platoon Sergeant in the 101st Airborne, 501 Company and a member of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post #71. He was retired from SCE&G, was a former Golden Gloves Boxer and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Bonne S. Perry; his son, Jack D. Perry, Clarks Hill; two grandchildren, Gina Williams, North Augusta, and Jackie Perry, New York; three great-grandchildren, Cody Williams, Lauren Perry and Jonathan Perry.
