Elizabeth D. Coleman

Elizabeth D. Coleman, 96 died December 24, 2008 at Saluda Nursing Center. Elizabeth Davis Coleman was the seventh child of fifteen children born to the late Rev. John and Alice (Campbell) Davis.

She was a member of the Mt. Alpha Baptist Church in Ward, S.C. and was active in church and civic activities through her life. She graduated in the top five percentile of all her educational insitutions and taught 37 years in the public school system.

Survivors: one son, Thaddeous Z. Coleman from Beaufort, S.C; two grandaughters, Karen James, Wellesby, Mass., Thia C Brown, Beaufort, S.C; six great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Joy and Jewel James of Wellesby, Mass., Tiffany and Caleb Brown, Beaufort, S.C., four sisters, Lola Dobson, Winston Salem, N.C. Vivian D. Bates, Fountain Inn, S.C., Mable D. Carter, Columbia, S.C., Tropzsy D Brewer, Decatur, Ga. Public viewing will be Sunday, December 28th, Davis Funeral Home, 1 p.m.

Family received friends at Davis Funeral Home from 6-7 p.m., Sunday, December 28th.

Services were held Monday, December 29, 2008 at 11 a.m., at Mt. Alpha Baptist Church, 142 West Front Street, Ward, S.C. Remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m., Rev. Eldwin Griffin, Pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
