Funeral services for Mrs. Deloris Edwards Adams, 87, of Roland Avenue in Johnston, who died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, were conducted Friday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. at Johnston First Baptist Church.

The Rev. Thomas Barwick and Dr. Charles Hattaway officiated. Burial was in Mt. of Olives Cemetery.
Mrs. Adams was the wife of the late William Clay Adams Jr. and was preceded in death by her parents, James Martin Edwards Sr. and Mary Sawyer Edwards. She was born April 23, 1922 and was a graduate of Johnston High School and Furman University.

She was a lifelong resident of Johnston. She worked for many years with her brother James M. Edwards Jr. at Edwards Insurance Agency which was founded by their father. She was a dedicated member of Johnston First Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons, Barry Adams and wife Sara, Aiken, Mart Adams and wife Ann, Johnston; a daughter, Betsy Cooper and husband Curtis, Cayce; grandchildren, Clay Adams and wife Jesse, Aiken, Katie Pardue and husband Mitch, Johnston, Ashley Cooper, Charleston, April Adams, Augusta, Ga., Whitney Cooper, Charleston, and Joy Smith, Johnston; great grandchild, James Smith, Johnston; brother, James M. Edwards Jr. and wife Margaret, Johnston; five nieces and nephews and their spouses.
