Willie Brown
Mr. Willie Brown, 58, of W. Buena Vista Avenue in North Augusta, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 30, at 1 p.m. at Republican Grove Baptist Church in Edgefield, with the Rev. Willie Patten officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Brown, a native of Edgefield County, was baptized at Republican Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Lucy L. Griffin Brown, North Augusta; seven brothers, Benjamin (Brenda) Brown, Trenton, James (Olga) Brown, Augusta, Ga., Horace (Nikki) Brown, Johnston, Douglas (Chevet) Brown, Graniteville, Robert (Sharon) Brown, Carl Brown, Orangeburg, and Anthony (Marilyn) Brown, Gainesville, Ga.; two sisters, Jonnie (Horace) Pollock, Aiken, and Diane (Roger) Moore, North Augusta; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary, North Augusta, was in charge of arrangements.
Joshua Simpkins Jr.
Mr. Joshua Simpkins Jr., 76, of 135 Jack Jones Street in Aiken, died Friday, May 28, 2010 at UniHealth Care Facility.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, at noon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Edgefield.
Mr. Simpkins was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Hattie S. Williams, Uniondale, N.Y.; special friend, Gwendolyn Williams, Aiken; two adopted sons, Anthony Holloway and Lenny Williams, both of Aiken; and a host of other relatives.
G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary, Aiken, is in charge of arrangements.
Clayton Irvin Thompson
Services for Mr. Clayton Irvin Thompson, 87, of Edgefield, were conducted Monday, May 31, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Chapel in Greenwood.
Mr. Thompson died Friday, May 28, and was formerly of Hendersonville, N.C. Born in Jasper, Minn., he was a son of the late Andrew and Christina Benson Thompson. He was a retired pharmacist and was an Army veteran of World War II serving in Patton’s 3rd Army.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Guyer Thompson; sons, Clint Thompson (Lenette) of Greenwood and Chris T. Thompson of Des Moines, Iowa; a daughter, Lisa Miller (Mel) of Osecola, Iowa; three grandchildren; a step-grandchild; and six great-grandchildren.

Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
