Ronald Lee Adams

Mr. Ronald Lee Adams, 74, of Edgefield Road in Trenton, husband of Gloria Hartley Adams, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at his residence.
Funeral services were Thursday, June10, at 11 a.m. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home, with burial in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Edgefield.
Mr. Adams was born in Edgefield County and was a member of Philippi Baptist Church. He was a retired purchasing manager at Graniteville Company Woodhead Division.
In addition to his wife, he was survived by two sons, Wayne (Meg) Adams, Newberry, Mark (Cynthia) Adams, Trenton; a daughter, Rhonda (Carl) Runion, Knoxville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Veronica Rodriguez, Jacob and Sarah Adams, Brooke, Ethan and Millie Runion; a brother, Lucian D. (Blanche) Adams; and a sister, Joyce (Jack) Quattlebaum.

Rev. Dr. Kenneth John Carvalho

The Rev. Dr. Kenneth John Carvalho, 69, of Ridge Spring, died Friday, June 11, 2010 at Carolinas Hospital in Florence.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 14, at 11 a.m. at Town Creek Baptist Church, with the Revs. Brancie Stephens, Steve Ross and Jeff Strong officiating. Burial was in Town Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
He was born in New Bedford, Mass. to the late Manuel and Mary Costa Carvalho. He was an Army veteran. He was a full-time pastor who had preached in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Kentucky, Florida, Ohio and Tennessee over the past 35 years. He was currently pastor of Sandy Cross Baptist Church, Crawfordville, Ga. He was saved, called to the ministry and ordained at Town Creek Baptist Church in Aiken.. Survivors include his wife, Susan Redd Carvalho; children, Jennifer (Matt) Carson, Florence, and Kevin Carvalho, Augusta, Ga.; grandchildren, Austin Greene, Caleb Carson; and son-in-law, Dan Greene, Dayton, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Traci Greene.

Bernice Nobles Ellison

Mrs. Bernice Nobles Ellison, 99, of North Augusta, died Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Trinity Mission Health & Rehabilitation Center in Edgefield.
Graveside services and burial were held Tuesday, June 15, at 2 p.m. at West View Cemetery, with Mr. Larry Edmunds officiating.
Mrs. Ellison was a member of Central Christian Church and until her death held the honor of being the oldest member of the church. She was a member of The Willing Workers Sunday School Class, the Golden Age Club and the Helping Hands Club. She was named Mother of the Year in 1999 and enjoyed attending her church until poor health prevented her attendance. In 1999, she was chosen by the Augusta Canal Authority to participate in the Oral History Project. The Project chronicled the early years of working in textile mills and living in “mill villages.” Mrs. Ellison retired from the Graniteville Company’s Enterprise Division with 25 years of service. Her career in textiles spanned several decades and several mills in Macon and Augusta, Ga.  
She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. JoAnne Ellison Sawyer, Mrs. Patsy Ellison Hankinson and Mrs. Lillie Ellison Miller (David), all of North Augusta; grandchildren, William E. Redd (Mary), Augusta, Ga., Mary A. Hankinson Mitchell, North Augusta, Richard J. Hankinson IV, North Augusta, Russell S. Sawyer, North Augusta, Johnny E. Wood (Julie), Saracuse, Utah, Jerry A. Wood (Leslie), Corona, Calif., Jeffery E. Wood, Birmingham, Ala., Teresa Harris, North Augusta, Daniel M. Harris III, North Augusta, Amanda Miller King (John), Greer, Ashley M. Rev. Dr. Annie R. Scott Hammond

The Rev. Dr. Annie R. Scott Hammond, 67, of Bettis Academy Road in Trenton, retired educator, died Monday, June 7, 2010.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at Old Macedonia Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clifford Williams officiating. Burial was in Mt. Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.
Rev. Hammond, a native of McCormick County, was a 1961 graduate of Edgefield County Colored High School. In 1967, she received her bachelor of arts degree from Benedict College, and she received her master's degree from the University of South Carolina, Columbia/Aiken. In 2002, she was ordained as a minister. She received her master's and doctorate degree in theology. She was a member of Tau Gamma Delta Sorority, Zeta Omega chapter, Aiken, and was an active member of Hosannah Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Alex Hammond; a son, Victor Hammond (Shawn), Trenton; a daughter, Mexandra Walker (John), Aiken; stepmother, Georgia C. Scott, Belvedere; three brothers, Tommie Scott Jr., James Scott, North Augusta, and Roosevelt Scott (Belinda), Augusta, Ga.; three sisters, Fannie M. Hightower (Rev. Joseph), Colorado Spring, Colo., Rosetta Thompson (Horace), Washington, D.C., and Mildred Scott, Forestville, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Tiffany Ford, Augusta, Ga.; brothers-in-law, Charlie W. Harold J. Hodge Sr.

Memorial services for Mr. Harold J. Hodge Sr., 72, of McCreight Road in Ridge Spring, who died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, were conducted Thursday, June 10, at 7 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church, with Pastor Phillip L. Hamilton officiating. Veteran’s honors were rendered by the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Hodge was a native of Empire, Ga., having made Ridge Spring his home for the past nine years. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church, American Legion and River Front Marines, Marine Corps League Det. 1132. Mr. Hodge was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a retired cabinetmaker.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Carrie M. Hodge; three sons, Tom Logue, Westmoreland, Tenn., Harold J. Hodge Jr., Hinesville, Ga., and Paul Hodge, Nichols, Ga.; five daughters, Barbara Lavertue, Portland, Tenn., Bonnie Hodge Logue, Callahan, Fla., Melissa Hodge and Danielle Hodge, both of Ridge Spring, and Cheryl Hodge, Douglas, Ga.; a brother, Harold "Buddy" Hodge, Kingsland, Ga.; two sisters, Betty Propes, Snellville, Ga., and Frances "Bun" Moon, Blairsville, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Frank Malcolm Jones Jr., 67, of Modoc, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 8, at 3 p.m. at Red Oak Grove Baptist Church near Modoc, with the Rev. Steve Cartin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Jones, son of the late Frank M. and Geneva Beggs Jones, was born in Lincoln County, Ga., but had lived in Modoc most of his life. He was a retired transmission mechanic, auto and racing enthusiast who believed that Ford Motor Company was the only auto manufacturer that built an automobile worth driving.
He is survived by his wife, LaNelle Brown Jones; a son, Frank M. Jones III, Parksville; a daughter, Tammy Jonelle Burden and husband Scott of Modoc; brothers, Henry Elzy Jones, Plum Branch, and Raymond Jones, Grovetown, Ga.; a sister, Martha J. Long, Louisiana; grandchildren, Kayla Burden, C.J. Jones and Carli Burden.

Mrs. Annie Ethel Miller Lamb, 97, of Edgefield, wife of the late Stanford M. Lamb, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Trinity Mission Health & Rehab.
Graveside services were held Saturday, June 12, at 11 a.m. in East View Cemetery in Edgefield.
Mrs. Lamb was a native of Edgefield and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She was retired from Riegel Textile Company.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Billy) Murphy, Aiken, and Faye (Jim) Stamper, Bullhead City, Ariz.; 7seven grandchildren, Stan Lamb, Susan Hill, Bill Murphy, Ann Marie Robinson, Michael Murphy, Sean Stamper and Christopher Stamper; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Lamb was predeceased by a son, Thomas M. Lamb.

John C. “Johnny” Morris III

Funeral Services for Mr. John C. “Johnny” Morris III, 64, of West Martintown Road, North Augusta, who died Saturday, June 12, 2010, were conducted Tuesday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at Republican Baptist Church, with the Rev .Lance Thomas officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Morris was a lifelong resident of the Belvedere-North Augusta area. He was a member of Republican Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, congregational song leader and choir member. He retired from AGY.

Mary Pardue Morris

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Pardue Morris, 100, of North Augusta, who died Sunday, June 6, 2010, were conducted Tuesday, June 8, at 3 p.m. at Posey Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Roy Kiser officiating. Burial was in Pineview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Morris was a native of Johnston, having made North Augusta her home for the past 84 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta and wife of the late Mr. Eddie L. Morris.

Hilda Reid McDonald Pimlott

Mrs. Hilda Reid McDonald Pimlott, of Clarks Hill, died at her home on Thursday, June 10, 2010.
Funeral services were held at Monday, June 14, at 10 a.m. at Platt's Belair Road Chapel, with Mr. James E. Davis officiating. Burial was at 3 p.m. at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Ga.
Born in 1917 in Atlanta, Mrs. Pimlott was educated at North Avenue Presbyterian School and Washington Seminary. In her late teens, she worked for Rich's Department Store as a personal shopper and also as a model. During World War II, she worked at the Pan Electronic Laboratory where she received the Navy Pen. She also volunteered for the Red Cross Motor Corps. Following the war, she married the late James Edward Pimlott in Falls Church, Va. The couple moved to Port au Spain, Trinidad to begin their family life. There their daughter, Carol Reid, was born. The family lived in Jacksonville, Fla. on their return to the United States before settling in Atlanta. Mrs. Pimlott was a member of St. Phillips Cathedral in Atlanta. She led an active life participating in many civic organizations, and was a regular volunteer and participant at the Swan Coach House. Among her many activities she enjoyed weekly games of Bridge and Fantan with longtime friends, but most of all Hilda enjoyed the time spent with her family. In her later years, Hilda still traveled with her family on vacation trips that took them near and far. She was affectionately called “Gaugie” by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Owens Hair and husband Steve; two grandsons, Reid Hair and Beau Owens and wife Bethany; and two great-granddaughters, Mallory May and Anna Elizabeth Owens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. A.H. McDonald and Myrtis Reid McDonald.

Mrs. Nora Perkins Wood, 90, of Mountain View Drive in Parksville, wife of the late Albert B. “Lovin” Wood, died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at her residence.
Graveside services were held Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Parksville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Wood was born in Matthews, Ga., and was a member of Parksville Baptist Church. She was the retired Lunch Room manager for Plum Branch Elementary School.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Buck, Parksville; and a sister, Mary Rhodes, Augusta, Ga.
