Mary C. Carroll
Mrs. Mary C. Carroll, 76, of Foxfire Court in North Augusta, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at her residence.
The Mass of Christian Burial and Prayer Vigil were celebrated on Wednesday, April 20, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, with Father Cherian Thalakulam as celebrant. Burial was in Pineview Memorial Park.
Survivors include two sons, Jay Carroll and Hughey Carroll; a daughter, Mary Costello; brothers, William Costello and Jimmy Costello; three sisters, Cathy Sherlock, Bridget Costello and Shirley Riley; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Rowland Funeral Home, North Augusta, was in charge of arrangements.
Marshall Hightower III
Mr. Marshall Hightower III, 54, of Murrah Road in North Augusta, died Friday, April 22, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, at 2 p.m. at Brightharp & Sons Mortuary Chapel, with Minister Beatrice Lee officiating. Burial will be in Mealing Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife Chantell Brown Hightower; two daughters, Lataisha S. (Demetrius) Clyde and Kera S. Hightower, Augusta, Ga.; two sons, Folando F. Walker, North Augusta, and Phillip Frank, Augusta; his mother, Charlsie Mae Hightower, North Augusta; two sisters, Barbara Hightower and Jeanette (Leon) Palmer, Augusta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary, North Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.
Arley Joe McCreery
Mr. ArleyJoe McCreery, 77, of Montvale, Va., died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at his home.
Born on April 4, 1934, in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward H. McCreery. He graduated from White Sulphur Springs High School in 1952. In 1956, he graduated from Duke University with a B.A. degree in accounting. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and was also a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity Gamma Chapter. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. After military service, he was employed with Price Waterhouse as a C.P.A. in Atlanta for several years after which he relocated to Roanoke, Va. where he was employed by Schwartz & Company. In 1968, he purchased the business where he served as president and CEO until his retirement.
He was survived by four sons, Joel (Beth) McCreery, Edgefield, Randy McCreery, Montvale, Daren (Angie) McCreery, Johnston, and Tyler McCreery; a daughter, Shannon McDaniel, Roanoke; and seven grandchildren, Meghan, Dylan, Sarah, Sadie, Jessica, Josh and Jonathon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald McCreery, and his sister, Norma McCreery.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Samuel Hughes Nicholson Jr.
Mr. Samuel Hughes Nicholson Jr., 55, of Edgefield, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Self- Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Graveside services were held Saturday, April 23, at 11 a.m. at Eastview Cemetery.
Mr. Nicholson was born in Edgefield and was a member of Edgefield United Methodist Church. He worked at Pendarvis Chevy- Olds.
Survivors include a son, Samuel Crozier Nicholson, Charlottesville, Va.; two sisters, Duane E. Nicholson, Charleston, Mary Hughes Walker, Columbia; a brother, Collins D. Nicholson, Edgefield.
Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Carley Ashton Peace
Visitation for Carley Ashton Peace, 8, of Briggs Road, North Augusta, who died, Wednesday, April 20, 2011, was conducted at Posey Funeral Directors Saturday, April 23, from 2 until 4 p.m.
Carley was a life-long resident of North Augusta, a second grade student at Merriwether Elementary School and a fourth generation tattoo artist. He loved music, the outdoors, fishing and his Tattoo family.
Survivors include his parents, Daniel Peace and Sherry Fulmer; a brother, Christian Horne, North Augusta; maternal grandparents, Charles and Faye Fulmer, North Augusta and Liz McDaniel, Burnsville, N.C.; paternal grandparents, LeDan & Jennie Peace, Evans; maternal great-grandfather, Pete Fulmer, Belvedere; three uncles, Jerry Fulmer, Andy Franklin and Noel Peace; and an aunt, NaDina Thompson.
Memorials may be made to the Carley Peace Fund at Wells Fargo and Wachovia Banks.

Lether Walker Swearingen
Funeral services for Lether Walker Swearingen, of Edgefield, were held Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, Edgefield. Brother Freddie Stone officiated.
She was survived by three children, Ruthie S. Weaver, MD, Doris (Jackie) Lilley, Chester, and Leroy Walker, Johnston; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Amos & Sons Funeral Home, Johnston, was in charge of arrangements.
