Olivia Johnson Dobey
 
Mrs. Olivia Johnson Dobey, 92, of Washington, D.C., died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. at Shaws Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. R.C. Holloway officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Herbert Dobey Jr., Washington, D.C.; a sister, Margie Gibson, Edgefield; two granddaughters, Candace Clark and Kimberly Clark, Washington, D.C.; six great-grandchildren, Davonia, Dorian and Dashauna Grogan and Kevin, Affrika and Demetrius Clark, all of Washington, D.C.; and a host of other relatives.

Patricia Ann Hammond
 
Ms. Patricia Ann Hammond, 50, of UniHealth Center, formerly of James Town Court in Aiken, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Ms. Hammond was a member of Valley Fair Baptist Church and was a graduate of Midland Valley High School.

Survivors include her daughter, Anitra Cook, Aiken; a son, Larry McBurnett, North Augusta; five sisters, Dorothy Simmons, North Augusta, Floria (Earnest) Watkins, Fannie (Jessie) Wertz, both of Johnston, Valerie Melford, Augusta, Ga., and Lisa (Ray) James, Aiken; two brothers, Hazel (Rachael) Hammond, Aiken, and Dennis English, Columbia; and a host of other relatives.

Ceteria Harrison
 
Mrs. Ceteria Harrison, 92, of Trenton, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009 at Trinity Mission Health & Rehab. Center.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov.19, at noon at Mt. Alpha Baptist Church in Ward, with the Rev. Eldwin Griffin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Harrison, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Mt. Alpha Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Robert (Rosetta) Seabrooks, New York, N.Y.; two sisters, Hattie Mae Copes, Far Rockaway, N.Y., and Cecelia Miles, Aiken; daughters-in-law, Denise Seabrooks, Alpharetta, Ga. and Velma Seabrooks, Cedar Grove, N.J.; sister-in-law, Rachel Pierce, Bronx, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Dorothy Bussey Houston
 
Mrs. Dorothy Bussey Houston, 77, of Rainbow Falls Road in North Augusta, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church at Clarks Hill, with the pastor, Rev. Winston Oliphant, officiating and Delbert Nero, eulogist.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Houston, a native of McCormick County, was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Doris Houston, North Augusta; three daughters, Dianne (Eugene) Williams, Belvedere, Silenda Leakes, North Augusta, and Doris (Carlos) Ruiz, Hephzibah, Ga.; four sons, Carl (Bernice) Houston, Gerald (Mamie) Houston, North Augusta, Sylvester (Betty) Houston, Hephzibah, Ga., and Ira (Gilda) Houston, Albany, Ga.; four sisters, Rubenia (Harvest) Hammond, North Augusta, Elizabeth Thomas, Margaret (Alex) Pope, Augusta, Ga., and Juanita (Roosevelt) Walker, Hephzibah, Ga.; two brothers, Bettis Bussey Jr., Belvedere, and the Rev. Johnnie (Retha) Bussey, Augusta, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Roberta Garrett, North Augusta, and Bessie Houston, Clarks Hill; five brothers-in-law, Joe Lewis (Louise) Houston, George (Irene) Houston, Thelmond (Debra) Houston, Clarks Hill, Willie (Elizabeth) Houston, Evena, Ga., Clarence Houston, Philadelphia, Pa.; and a host of other relatives.

Friends may call at the residence of her daughter, Dianne Williams, 131 Teresa Avenue, Belvedere.

Mamie Beatrice LaBord
 
Mrs. Mamie Beatrice LaBord, of Finley Extension in North Augusta, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. at Old Macedonia Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert L. LaBord officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. LaBord, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Old Macedonia Baptist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Marie Griffen and Bernice (Robert) Adams, North Augusta, Mary (Primus) Sims and Frances (Charles) Sims, Columbia, and Cassandra (Bobby) Elam, Belvedere; four sons, Willie C. LaBord Jr., the Rev. Robert (Elise) LaBord, and Ronnie LaBord, North Augusta, and Ollie J. (Martha) LaBord, Atlanta, Ga.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Debbie Cobb Smith
 
Mrs. Debbie Cobb Smith, 49, of Warrenville, wife of Lester Smith and daughter of Leila Hancock Shaw, Grovetown, Ga. and the late Jesse Cobb Jr., died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009.

A Celebration of Life Service was held Thursday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. at Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel, Langley, with Pastor Wade Everett officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville.

Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, she was a homemaker. She was of the Methodist faith and attended Langley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, shopping and prior to her health declining, riding her 98 Sportster.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her children, David Yopp, North Augusta, Christopher Yopp (Samantha Mawby), Clearwater, and Ashley Hofstra (Zach), Edgefield; three grandchildren, Sophie Hofstra, Devin Rolland and Jaida Rolland; a brother, Danny Cobb (Patricia Burke), Edgefield; a nephew, Barry Smith Jr., North Augusta; and a lifelong friend who was more like a sister, Lisa Smith (Barry), North Augusta.

Memorials may be made to Langley United Methodist Church.

Marian Beck Spears
 
Mrs. Marian Beck Spears, 83, of Arch Drive in North Augusta, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. at Rowland Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Paul Noe officiating. A graveside service followed in Westview Cemetery.

Mrs. Spears attended Sweetwater Baptist Church in Edgefield County and retired from C&S Bank.

Survivors include three sons, John B. Spears Jr., Ed Spears (Susan), and Phillip Spears (Susan); a sister, Maxine B. Mixon; an aunt, Minnie Hallman; two grandchildren, Travis E. Spears and Avery Spears-Mahoney (Michael); and a number of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Berry Spears Sr.
