Albert Louis Lott

Mr. Albert Louis “Tick” Lott Jr., of Johnston, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at the Edgefield County Hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. at Walk of Faith Outreach Ministries in Johnston, with Pastor Roger Edwards officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his daughter, Tongia (Travis) Gibson, Saluda; his mother, Pearl Lott, Johnston; brothers, Edward (Roberta) Lott, North Augusta, and James (Annette) Lott, Johnston; sisters, Marjorie (Willie) Perment, Johnston, Tracy Lott and Marilyn Lott, both of Trenton; three grandchildren;

and a great-grandchild.

Olivia Rowe Phillips

Mrs. Olivia Rowe Phillips, 90, of Edgefield, wife of the late Roy Phillips, died Saturday Jan. 23, 2010 in Augusta, Ga.

Graveside services were held Tuesday Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. at Eastview Cemetery in Edgefield.

Mrs. Phillips was a native of Edgefield County and was a member of Edgefield United Methodist Church. She was a beautician, a retired municipal clerk and a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, John D. (Paula) Phillips, Edgefield, Thomas R. (Donna) Phillips, Chapin; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Wallace “Bud” Robertson

Mr. Wallace “Bud” Robertson, 84, of North Martintown Road in Edgefield, husband of Essie Eubanks Robertson, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at his residence.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Edgefield.
Mr. Robertson was the son of the late Wallace and Hattie Wood Robertson. He was a World War II veteran, having served four years in the U.S. Navy.

He worked for Deering Milliken as a machinery engineer for 41 years. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 48 years. He was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the choir and the Brotherhood. He was also active in American Legion Hezzie Griffis Unit #30 and Mason Concordia Lodge 50.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by his children, Bruce and Beth Robertson, Edgefield; his grandchildren, Greg and Caro Robertson, New Jersey, Carole and Clint Collum, Wagener, Tracey and Paul Grandy, Edgefield, and Robbie and Josh Durham, Edgefield; hisgreat-grandchildren, Nolan, Claire and Carter; his special children Dolly and B.C. Padgett; his brothers and sisters, James and Beatrice Eubanks, Jeanette Lee and Janie Eubanks Moore.

Liese E. Webb

Mrs. Liese E. Webb, 83, of North Augusta, wife of the late Eugene D. Webb, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

A graveside inurnment service was held Friday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. at Pineview Memorial Park.

Survivors include a son, Rick Webb (Terri) of North Augusta; two daughters, Tina Edmonds (David) of Johnston and Becky Malone (Danny) of North Augusta; two sisters, Margaret Bedgood of Martinez, Ga. and Anna Mangum of Germany; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Victor R. Hallman

Mr. Victor R. Hallman, 84, of Grovetown, Ga., died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010.

Graveside services were held Sunday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m. at Spann United Methodist Church Cemetery in Ward, with Pastor Matthew S. Lash officiating.

Mr. Hallman was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the 79th Infantry Division. He was also a federal employee working at the Commissary at Fort Gordon. He was a lifetime member and a 32 degree Mason at the Masonic Lodge in Johnston and he was a member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple. He was a charter member of Advent Lutheran Church.

Mr. Hallman is survived by his wife, Mary F. Hallman; a daughter, Olivia Gynn (Jim) Carraway, Columbia; a son, V. Steve (Geneva) Hallman, Martinez, Ga.; four grandsons; three great-granddaughters; seven great-grandsons; a three cousins.

Josephine Hill

Ms. Josephine Hill, of Ridge Spring, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m. at Ridge Spring-Monetta Middle School in Ridge Spring. Burial was in Mine Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Robert Daniel “Bob” Perry Sr.

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Daniel “Bob” Perry Sr., 89, of Curtis Drive in North Augusta, who died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, were conducted Thursday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. at North Augusta Southern Methodist Church.

The Rev. H.B. Johnston officiated. Burial was in Pineview Memorial Park.
Mr. Perry was a native of Taylors, Penn., having made North Augusta his home for the past 60 years.

He was a founding member of the former Epworth Southern Methodist Church which later became North Augusta Southern Methodist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the Philippines, and a retired salesman with Colgate-Palmolive with 36 years of service. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Esther G. Perry and a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps located in the Petrified Forest in Arizona.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Linda Perry, North Augusta, Van and Nelle Perry, Edgefield, and Kent and Joan Perry, North Augusta; seven grandchildren, Natalie Umberger, Ashley Fulmer, Alex Perry, Emily Perry, Stephen Perry, Christopher Perry and Lauren Perry; three great-grandchildren, Carson Umbarger, Collin Umbarger and Andilyn Banks; three step-grandchildren and their spouses, Bryan and Jill Paul, Danielle and Robert Welsh and Brent Paul.

Anna Louise Mobley Swearingen

Mrs. Anna Louise Mobley Swearingen, of Johnston, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston.

A graveside service was held at Mount of Olives Cemetery in Johnston on Thursday, Jan. 14 at 1:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Thomas D. Barwick of Johnston First Baptist Church, where she was a lifelong member.

Born in Johnston, where she lived most of her life, she was the daughter of Edwin Ruthvin Mobley and Jessie Gomillion Mobley.

She is survived by her daughter, Anna Louise Swearingen, of Charleston; her son, Jesse Monroe (Charlotte) Swearingen, Jr., of Columbia; her grandchildren, Jesse Monroe (Denise)Swearingen, III,  Laura Swearingen (Richard) Jackson, and Jennifer McLeod Swearingen; and five great-grandchildren, Jesse Monroe Swearingen, IV, John Scott Swearingen, Avery Lynn Swearingen, Matthew Richard Jackson and Anna Elizabeth Jackson.  She is also survived by her nieces, Anne S. Smith, Jayne Mobley Rainsford, Candice Mobley Steudtel; and her nephews, James E. Mobley Jr., and Michael W. Swearingen.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jesse Monroe Swearingen, and her brothers, James E. Mobley, and A. Vardell Mobley.
