James Ray Brodie

Mr. James Ray Brodie, 89, of Augusta Road in Edgefield, husband of the late Doris Brunson Brodie, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010 at his residence.
Graveside Services were held Saturday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. at Eastview Cemetery in Edgefield.
Mr. Brodie was a native of Aiken and was a retired textile worker.
Survivors include a son, Steve (Barbara) Brodie, Edgefield; a daughter, Ann (Jay) Camp, Adairsville, Ga.; a sister, Betty Bedenbaugh, Edgefield; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 501 Augusta Rd. Edgefield, S.C. 29824.

Lois Elizabeth Allen Franklin

Mrs. Lois Elizabeth Allen Franklin, of Magnolia, Texas, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Jan. 9, at 11:30 a.m. at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Johnston.
Mrs. Franklin, a native of Wrightsville, Ga., was the oldest daughter of five children of the late Theodore and Lizzie Glisson Allen. She was married to the late Wade M. Franklin for 51 years and was a member of Philippi Baptist Church and Eastern Star.
Survivors include daughters, Lorraine Sockwell (Bob), Linda Dodgen (John), and Marsha Foster (David); brothers, Earl and Ray Allen; sister, Barbara Anderson; granddaughter, Elizabeth Foster; grandsons, Jason and David Dodgen and Samuel Foster; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

James Arthur Fuller

Mr. James Arthur Fuller, of Edgefield, husband of Sadie Gunter Fuller, died at his home in Edgefield County on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 7, at noon at Springfield Baptist Church in Edgefield County, with the pastor, Rev. Craig Myers officiating. Assisting were the Revs. Robert Haskell, Roderick Cumming, Eric Butler, Ernest Gordon and James W. Price. Burial was in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in McCormick.
Mr. Fuller was born Nov. 13, 1951 to the late William T. and Pearl H. Fuller. He was a graduate of W.E. Parker School in Edgefield and was a former employee of Unico of Aiken and Fuller Lawn Service. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and served on the Trustee Board.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Brian (Felisha) Fuller and Justin (Ebon) Fuller; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; five brothers, Willie T. (Rose), William T. (Blandenia), Marvin (Rebecca), Richard (Demetric), and Carlton Fuller of North Augusta; a sister, Carolyn Fuller; and a sister-in-law, Varrie (Rev. Robert) Haskell, Augusta, Ga.
A brother, Alexander Fuller, and a son, Kendall Fuller, preceded him in death.

Johnny Edward Nicholson

Mr. Johnny Edward Nicholson, 68, of Monetta, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. at Penn Creek Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Born in Saluda County, son of the late Ramond Collins and Mary Waldo Nicholson, he was a member of Penn Creek Baptist Church in Saluda. He was employed by Wal-Mart in Batesburg.
He is survived by his wife, Maggie W. Nicholson, Johnston; sons, Johnny (Wilette) Johnson, Johnston, and Alan Nicholson, Monetta; daughter, Gale Nicholson, Monetta; stepsons, Ernest Williams, Johnston, and Darrin (Tracey) Williams, Aiken; stepdaughters, Geneva Williams, Aiken, Gloria Walker (Barry) and Deloris Childs, both of Augusta, Ga., Velma Williams and Belinda (Dennis) Morrison, both of Charlotte, N.C.; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Butler & Sons Funeral Home, Saluda, is in charge of arrangements.

Sallie Mae Brown Strom

Funeral services for Mrs. Sallie Mae Brown Strom, 82, of Moragne Street in Edgefield, were held Saturday, Jan. 9, 1010 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Jasper Lloyd officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Barbara Jean Wise Washington

Mrs. Barbara Jean Wise Washington, 66, of Pinecrest Apartments in North Augusta, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Mrs. Washington, a native of Saluda County, was a member of New Beginnings Ministries in Johnston.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Washington, Aiken; a daughter, Barbara Washington Simpkins, North Augusta; three sons, Lloyd Washington Jr., Terry (Marguita) Washington and Jerry Washington, Augusta, Ga.; two sisters, Sophie Webb, Trenton, and Dorothy Washington, North Augusta; a brother, Johnnie (Lucinda) Wise, Trenton; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Eunice Pardue Yonce

Funeral services for Mrs. Eunice Pardue Yonce, 97, of Johnston, were held Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Yonce, a native of Edgefield County and widow of the late Samuel Olon Yonce Sr., died Friday, Jan. 8. She was a daughter of the late w. Edward and Mary C. Jackson Pardue. Mrs. Yonce was a homemaker, a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she attended the VIP and WELCA organizations of the church, and was a member of AARP of Edgefield County.
Survivors include three sons, James “Skip” Edward (Pat), Henry Deryl (Mary) and Charles Marion (Diane) Yonce; a sister, Gertrude Morris; nine grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Olon Yonce Jr.
