JOHNSTON - Tonight’s varsity football game at Wardlaw Academy between the Patriots and visiting Coastal Christian has been postponed until tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Coastal Christian expressed travel concerns with Hurricane Irene moving closer to the coast.

Had the game been played tonight and the storm reached landfall as some simulations have forecast, it could have had the team reaching the Charleston area at the same time as weather from the storm, which the school wanted to avoid with the possibility of area bridges or roads being closed.

The Patriots are 1-0 after defeating rival King Academy in an eight-man football shootout last week, 44-36.
