Customers enjoy the new look of Linda's Hairstyling on Bauskett Street in Edgefield.

In case someone hasn't noticed, the inside of Linda's Hairstyling on Bauskett Street in Edgefield has had a makeover.
With the help of a loyal customer and friend Anna Adkins, owner Linda Murrell and her sidekick Denise MacDonald set about giving the shop a new look.
"Actually, it was Denise's idea," said Murrell. "She's the decorator."
MacDonald picked out the paint (a burnt orange or terra cotta color) and when the shop closed down on Friday, Jan. 16, they set about painting the whole shop with the help of Larry (Murrell's husband) and Denny (MacDonald's husband). The project was an all-week-end job.
New accent pieces and accessories were added and the furniture rearranged. New curtains and
shelves were also added. The large mirrors in front of both styling stations were not changed but the gold framework was toned down. Everything else that was not changed received a thorough cleaning. All the new decor, with the exception of a large star mirror which was a gift from Adkins, came from Fred's in Edgefield. Murrell's job was to feed everyone.
This past Monday, the tanning bed portion of the shop also got a makeover.
"The whole area was painted, new curtains and rugs were added and the tanning bed bulbs were changed," said Murrell. "I even have a brand new special on the use of the tanning bed."
MacDonald said she just felt like the shop needed a change.
"It had been four years and I felt like it was time," she said.
Adkins said she was glad to pitch in.
"I like to decorate also," she said. "I often help family and friends out. My husband Bill and I own a furniture business and sometimes I help the customers redecorate."
Customers at Linda's Hairstyling don't know what to think when they come in now, said Murrell.
"They want to know if we're going to do their place next," she said.
