JOHNSTON – Town Council held a special called meeting on Monday for the purpose of addressing a pair of town ordinances and one resolution.
A public hearing was held for Ordinance No. 2009-03, an ordinance providing for a local hospitality tax on the sales of all prepared meals and beverages sold in the Town of Johnston. Mr. Andy Livingston was the only member of the public to speak on the matter, and after the public hearing was closed the ordinance was placed under second reading before Council, passing in a 5-1 vote.

The businesses may also not sell wine or beer before 7 a.m. each day, and liquor before 10 a.m. each day. The ordinance passed by a vote of 5-1, with Councilman Nicholson voting no.
The third matter of business considered Resolution No. 2009-06, a resolution authorizing Mayor Willie Campbell to execute a CDBG contractual agreement with the S.C. Department of Commerce.
