H.W. Brazell To Serve As Grand Marshal For Edgefield Parade
The Town of Edgefield’s annual Christmas parade will be held Sunday, December 5th at 4 p.m. Grand Marshal for the parade will be Mr. H.W. Brazell.
The 2010 Grand Marshal was chosen based upon his continued support of Edgefield’s business community. Fairway Food Center has been in operation for more than 40 years by Mr. Brazell. In addition, Mr. Brazell is a member of Edgefield United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He is the proud father of two sons (both of which work for him at Fairway), two daughters-in-law and three grandchildren.
The Christmas Parade, an annual holiday tradition, will include floats from businesses and civic organizations, elected officials, an antique car club, tractor club, and saddle club. In addition, the parade this year will include the W.E. Parker Chorus. The parade begins on Columbia Road (Highway 23) and runs down Main Street to the town square.
Calvin Henderson and Jane Herlong will serve as master and mistress of ceremonies for the parade. Henderson, a local disc jockey and business owner, and Herlong, a humorist, author, and singer, both reside in Edgefield County.
Sharon Nunamaker, chair of the ECDA and the Parade Committee, invites everyone to come out on Sunday to enjoy the annual parade down Main Street. She added, “we’re really excited about all of the new participants this year!”
Sponsored by the Edgefield Community Development Association, the Christmas Parade is one of many events in the 2010 Heritage Holidays campaign for downtown Edgefield, during which the community comes together all in an effort to raise awareness of the many local places to visit, shop and dine. Upcoming events during the Heritage Holiday season include a tour of homes, tour of churches, live theater productions and several more shopping opportunities.
Heritage Holidays 2010 is brought to you by the Edgefield Community Development Association in partnership with the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor, the Edgefield County Hospital and the Town of Edgefield.
