Gresham Barrett raises over $371,000 in three weeks
COLUMBIA, S.C. - U.S. Congressman Gresham Barrett's gubernatorial campaign today announced that Gresham Barrett will report having raised over $371,000 in the three weeks since he announced his candidacy for governor.
"Gresham raised this money the old fashioned way," said Campaign Treasurer Travis Butler. "He didn't rely on high profile fundraising events with Senators or Governors to attract donors. He just got on the phone, one-on-one and shared his vision for economic growth, education and energy in the State of South Carolina. And when people hear his vision for the state they are energized and want to join the team."
Barrett for Governor Senior Advisor Jim Dyke added, "The fact that Gresham was able to go out in what everyone would agree is a challenging fundraising environment and raise, in three weeks, what most candidates would hope to raise in three months is a sign that he is right on the issues. In the weeks ahead, our campaign will continue to build on this early momentum by adding more and more South Carolinians to the campaign through our finance committee, county leadership, coalition groups and a new website."
Later this week, the Barrett campaign will post its full first quarter financial disclosures on www.ethics.sc.gov. Total Cash on Hand in campaign accounts will be over $1 million.
Congressman Barrett thanked his supporters stating, "I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we have received from across the state, and I am grateful to everyone who invested in our campaign to bring people together for the common purpose of building a more prosperous and more promising South Carolina."
