Mable G. Robertson
Farm Service Agency director retires
Mable G. Robertson retired December 31 after 28 years service with the Farm Service Agency.
Robertson began her career in 1981 as a Program Technician in the Saluda ASCS office under County Director George Sawyer. She worked in that position until 1995 when Sawyer retired.
After training in Florence, Anderson, Calhoun, York and Newberry counties, she was hired as County Executive Director for Saluda County.
January 1998 she was hired as County Executive Director for the Edgefield Farm Service Agency in a shared management situation, where she divided her time managing both the Edgefield and Saluda FSA offices. She continued this arrangement from 1998 until her retirement.
Robertson's career has taken her to Washington, Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma and many within state locations. She was one of four individuals in the state selected to train new employees in counter skills.
Robertson was one of the first employees from South Carolina to participate in the testing of new computer software in Washington, DC and Kansas City.
As Edgefield CED, she and her staff received the 2007 National Civil Rights Award for the first ever Black History Program. She is past State President for the employee organization, SCASCOE.
She received the 1997 Woman of Accomplishment State Award for the Business & Professional Women's Club.
She says she has had a very rewarding career and will miss the many friends she has made.
She expresses her appreciation to the Saluda and Edgefield County Committees, staff and farmers for their support.
She looks forward to having time to spend with family and for traveling.
