Dear Friends and Supporters:

While the primary election results on June 8 were disappointing – I feel incredibly positive about the campaign we waged for County Council District #1.

It was very humbling to receive support from so many of you. It was an honor and inspiring to travel around Edgefield County and hear directly from so many people who believe that integrity, fairness, and transparency should be paramount in our county governments. As I said during my campaign, the County Council needs more focus on the principles that make Edgefield such a great county and I know if we all continue working together we will continue to achieve great things.

You should know that this defeat does not deter me from wanting to fight to improve things in Edgefield County. By the end of my campaign, even though I was defeated by 17 votes, I accomplished a tremendous amount as the election results show.  But the numbers cannot capture what I will always remember most about your support – not because an organization or their boss told them to, but because they believed in my campaign.

To all of you, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting your faith in me. I would have been honored to serve but this campaign was never about me. It’s been about you and our common belief that we deserve leaders who are just as honest, decent, and hard-working as the people they are elected to represent. The change I seek can only come from the bottom up. I’ll conduct another campaign in 2 years because I still have “win” in me and I know if you stay involved, stay engaged, and continue to fight for the government you deserve – you’ll make that win possible.
