NEW HOURS AND DATES FOR FOOD DISTRIBUTION – Effective October 2010, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will be open to distribute food on a Monthly basis, two times a week. The days are Thursday and Saturday, between the hours of 9 to 11 a.m. You may come to the church any of these times to receive food. For information, call 803-637-1287 or 803-637-6473.

FRIENDS & FAMILY FISH FRY – Friday, Oct. 22, 6 p.m., Runs Missionary Baptist Church, 1809 Williston Road, Beech Island. Bake-off will be during the Fish Fry; see Sister Borinquen or Sister Betty Gallman about the Bake-off. A Flea Market with a cost of $5 a table will also be during the fish fry. 2010 HOMECOMING AT RIDGE SPRING UNITED METHODIST CHURCH – The 2010 Homecoming Service and activities will be honoring Joe Cal and Betty Steadman Watson at Ridge Spring United Methodist Church Oct. 24, after the 11 a.m. service.  All are invited to share in tribute to this couple's longevity of service to their faith. Bring a picnic item and lawn chair. The church is located on Dubose Street in Ridge Spring.

ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION – The anniversary of Elder Sam Stevens will be at Concordia 50 Lodge on Penn St., Edgefield, on Oct. 23, at 4 p.m.

KIDNEY TRANSPLANT BENEFIT – Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church will present a kidney transplant benefit carnival for Tory Mims on Saturday, October 30, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mt. FUNDRAISERS

“BROADWAY & BELLY LAUGHS”, PRESENTED BY Edgefield Theatre Company, an intimate evening of music and stand-up comedy. Thursday, Oct. 28, 7:30 p.m. Starring nationally-touring comedian Steve Mingolla, musical theater performer Brad King and hosted by Tony Baughman. Tickets on sale now for $20 per person. Proceeds benefit the Edgefield Theatre Company.

SECOND ANNUAL HALLOWEEN CAR SHOW BENEFIT – Saturday, Oct. 30, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Bi-Lo in Edgefield. To benefit All God’s Creatures Pet Rescue and Adoption. Rain date, Nov. 6. JOHNSTON FARMERS MARKET – The Farmer's & Artist's Market in Johnston will continue through the end of the year. It is held each Thursday from 4 p.m.- 6:30 p.m. on Calhoun Street in front of the Library/Warehouse. The week after Thanksgiving it will be held on Monday, Nov.29, at the same time as the Christmas Tree lighting. That will be the kick-off of the Holiday Market.

HOSPICE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Solaris Hospice is seeking caring individuals to volunteer with hospice patients and staff. If you are a registered nurse, CNA or other healthcare professional and have a desire to help others, maintain your clinical skills, enjoy a flexible schedule and workload, then volunteering may be for you.
