“Hello, World!” My dad used to laugh and tell about a local AM radio station announcer in Bryson City, N.C. back in the forties who opened his broadcast with that salutation (although the signal probably carried about 15 miles). It’s good to be optimistic, right?
We hope you’ve had a good week, as we did at Forest View manor. The flowers and shrubs are beautiful. It has been a while since everything was this green and wet.
To all who come and spend time with us during the week, we say ‘Thank you’. It makes us feel special and connected. Mac Winn, Marian Jones, and Peggy Williams were in this week visiting Carolyn Winn. Jack Winn also came by to see the members of Rehoboth Baptist Church. Chris and Mildred Cox were here visiting Annie Wright. Gene and Carol Smith came out and took pictures of Mary Alice Padgett and Elizabeth Wise for the Edgefield First Baptist Church directory. John, Don, and Teresa Atwell visited with mom Roslyn Atwell. Donna Brooks and Irene Ramsey came and visited with Carolyn Winn, Grace Pearson, and Catherine Hanna. Betty Jackson and Clyde Jackson IV came to see Elizabeth Wise. Jean Wells and Vivian Crawford came to sing and visit with Berdie Crawford, and Cornelia and Wayne Crawford came to see her as well. Catherine Hanna enjoyed visits from Mary Adams, Callie Patterse, Margie Scruggs, and George and Jean Padgett. Ronald Mock was out several times to visit folks. Ralph Scury stopped by, we miss seeing Ralph and Nancy regularly since Tom Bell went home to be with the Lord. Nancy McGhie was here to see mom Frances Wright. Andy Lyle came out Sunday to see dad Louie Lyle. Wanda Ouzts came out Thursday to bring ‘Sassy’ to visit and also to treat some of the ladies to some nail care. They thoroughly enjoyed that.
Fishing Tip of the Week
A blonde wanted to go ice-fishing. She'd seen many books on the subject, and finally, after getting all the necessary "tools" together, she made for the nearest frozen lake. After positioning her comfy foot-stool, she started to make a circular cut in the ice. Suddenly ---from the sky--- a voice boomed, "THERE ARE NO FISH THERE!" Startled, the Blonde moved further down the ice, poured a Thermos of cappuccino, began to cut yet another hole. Again, from the heavens, the voice bellowed, "THERE ARE NO FISH THERE!" The Blonde, now quite worried, moved way down to the opposite end of the ice, sat up her stool, and tried again to cut her hole. The voice came once more: "THERE ARE NO FISH THERE!" She stopped, looked skyward, and said, "Who are you --- God?" The voice replied, "NO, I OWN THE ICE-RINK!"
Special Thanks goes out to Mac and Linda McClintock for arranging the visit from ‘Peter Cottontail’ last week. Stop by and see the pictures they took.
Senior Health Tip of the Week
Last Thursday, Dr Zaremba of Greenwood Podiatry was here with his staff at the facility providing foot exams and toenail care for the residents. This is a service they provide regularly, and it’s a tremendous blessing for the residents. As we age, many of us tend to experience a decline in circulation and proper blood flow to our extremities. Toenails can become thick and hard. Besides that, darn it, it’s just hard to bend over and even get a good look at our feet! That’s why it may be beneficial to have a podiatrist regularly check our feet and toenails for potential problems. This is especially true for folks with diabetes or other conditions which may reduce blood flow and sensation to the feet. Remember, ‘an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’. That’s an understatement!
Happy Birthday in April to Mary Alice Padgett (4/26) and Orene Strom (4/28)!
