Miss Rhomania 2008 Crowned

The fundraising drive of the Augusta Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. ended with the crowning of Miss Alexis R. Williams on Saturday, November 15th at Antioch Baptist Church in Augusta, GA.

Alexis (9) is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brandon and Renee Williams. She is a student at Douglas Elementary School in Trenton, SC, and her favorite subject is reading.

Alexis is a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church and enjoys singing, dancing, and drawing.

Her sponsors for the event were her parents, and six sorority members: Mrs. Alice M. Simpkins (great-great aunt), Ms. Georgene Crawford, Ms. Nichole Evans, Mrs. Ruby Harris, Ms. Shirmaine Ivey, and Mrs. Tina McGee.

Runner-ups for Miss Rhomania were second place Miss Inari Matthews (10), daughter of Ms. Christine Ball and Mr. Marvin Matthews, third place Miss Gabrielle Smallwood (11), daughter of Rev. Chuck and Yvonne Smallwood, fourth place Miss Jaiden Hamilton (7), daughter of Ms. Falon Freeman and fifth place Miss D'Ana Birt (7), daughter of Mr. Eddie and Natasha Birt.

The awesome male gospel group WISDOM (The Temptations of Gospel) provided joyous entertainment for the evening.

Rhomania is the official name given to the major fundraiser of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
The funds raised are used to support scholarship awards to area youth and service projects to communities within the CSRA.
