County Prayer Warriors Turn Out For National Day of Prayer Rally
On Thursday, May 5, 2011, a National Day of Prayer rally was held at JET Middle School.
Prayer warriors from Edgefield, Johnston, and Trenton turned out to experience this event. The JET Middle School Chorus was the entertainment for the evening.
Pastors from various denominations and different churches across the area served as speakers for the evening alongside NDP coordinator Penny L. Hunt. Author Al Walker served as the keynote speaker for the event.
Bonnie Welder said attending the event helps to bolster a sense of community among believers.
“I pray every day for our nation to come together as a community,” she said. “Events like this) make us stronger in our faith as well as encourage us.”
Mrs. Hunt said the event is already in its fifth year.
“This is our fifth year and every year it’s more and more of a blessing,” she said. “This year, our theme was ‘A Mighty Fortress is Our God’ symbolizing hope and encouragement to everyone.”
Mrs. Hunt also noted that approximately 200-plus people attended the event.
