Mr. R.S. “Bill” Bartley, 82, of Bell Road in Saluda, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011 at Providence Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. at Richland Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Burial followed in Travis Park Cemetery.

Janie Morgan Bowman Culbreath

Ms. Janie Morgan Bowman Culbreath, 76, of Crossland Avenue in North Augusta, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 1, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Oscar W. Brown officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Ms. Culbreath, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Edgefield.


Mr. William ‘Billy’ Frampton Gibson

Funeral services for Mr. William “Billy” Frampton Gibson, 89, of Johnston, were held Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Johnston First Baptist Church, with burial in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.

Mr. Gibson, a native of Ward, died Thursday, Sept. 22. He was a son of the late Thomas Allen and Eva Marie McIntosh Gibson. Mr. Gibson was owner of Gibson Building Company. He was a member of American Legion Post 154, VFW, and Johnston First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Gibson; his son, William Jeffrey Gibson; daughters, Linda Smith (Buddy) and Judy Holmes; step-daughters, Tyra Miller (Billy) and Marsha Rearden (Chan); a sister, Louise Robertson (Steve); nine grandchildren, Lisa Crawford Hall, Matthew Frampton Smith, Haley Locklair, Chase Miller, Zack Rearden, Carly Rearden, Raleigh Rearden, Robbie Smith and Sheila Smith Crow; six great-grandchildren, Austin Hall, Kayla Hall, Kirsti Smith, Luke Smith, Nicole Smith and Cody Crow; and special sisters-in-law and niece, Geraldine Goff, Marilyn Fain and Cindy Dyer.

John Henry “Hen” Simpkins

Mr. John Henry “Hen” Simpkins, of Edgefield, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 1, at 3 p.m. at G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. G. L. Brightharp officiating. Burial was in Simmon Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include a sister, Betty (William) Gilliam; nephews, Ricky Miles, Robert Oliphant and Ernest (Shirley) Simpkins; a niece, Angelia Oliphant; a god-niece, Ashley Blalock ;great nieces, Bianca Miles, Brianna Oliphant; great nephews, Antjuan Miles, Tony Miles; great-great-niece, Tyanna Miles; great-god-nephew, a family friend, Shannon Hilton; and other relatives.

G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary, Edgefield, was in charge of arrangements.
