Mr. George Andrew Waldo, 88, of Crest Road in Edgefield, died Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Edgefield County Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 5, at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, with the Rev. Johnny Clark officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Waldo, a native of Americus, Ga., was a member and deacon of Macedonia Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator of Waldo’s Shoe Repair Service and a U.S. Army veteran.

Mrs. Annie Willie Butler Lee, 77, of Mims Street in Edgefield, died Sunday, July 11, 2010.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 16, at 1 p.m. at Science Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. James E. Thomas officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Lee, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Science Hill Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of the senior choir.

Mrs. Lucinda Coleman Hammond, 85, of Crestlyn Drive in North Augusta, died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the Golden Living Center of Augusta.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 10, at 2 p.m. at North Augusta Baptist Church, with the Rev. Martin Ryan officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.

Funeral services for Ms. Bertha Abney, 99, of Johnston, were held Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Rosa Spring Baptist Church, with the Rev. Winston Oliphant officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Saluda.
Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Amos & Sons Funeral Home, Johnston, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Elizabeth Dugar

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Dugar, 101, of Horry Street in Aiken, died Friday, June 11, 2010 at the UniHealth Powst Acute Care of Aiken (Mattie C. Hall Center).

She was the wife of the late Mark Anthony Dugar.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at Second Baptist Church in Aiken, with the Rev. Douglas A. Slaughter officiating. Burial was in Aiken Memorial Gardens.

Before relocating to Aiken in 1942, Mrs. Dugar was a resident of Edgefield. She was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church and a member of the Smith Hazel Community Center Seniors Group.

Lila Dowd Powell

Funeral services for Mrs. Lila Dowd Powell, 96, of Johnston, were held Monday, June 7, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. She died Friday, June 4.
Mrs. Powell was born in Little Mountain, a daughter of the late James Milton and Maggie Shealy Dowd.

She was married to the late Clarence F. Powell.

She is survived by two sons, C.F. (Rick) and wife Emily of Johnston, Donald and wife Jackie of Rockville, VA.; two daughters, Jane Mims of Johnston and Dianne Hare and husband Bob of Edgefield; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
